MSUFCU donates $2.5M to Wharton

The MSU Federal Credit Union announced today its $2.5 million donation to Wharton Center to help fund the new Institute for Arts & Creativity. MSUFCU’s donation is the lead gift in Wharton Center’s capital campaign to raise $11 million.

Lansing UAW back to work, others vote

While General Motors Corp. workers in Lansing Delta Township were back on the job Monday, American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc. workers in Detroit and Three Rivers began voting on an agreement that would end strike negotiations.

Will China keep Internet open? Don't bet on it

China has long held a tight grip on its Internet and media, restricting them from doing things such as displaying graphic images or criticizing their government. After an earthquake shook the ground of China’s Sichuan province, in an effort to gain more support from countries around the world, the Chinese government began slacking on Internet and media restrictions they once tightly upheld.

Sometimes it’s hard for Janet Richards to remember that her active son, 6-year-old Jacob Richards, was diagnosed with asthma when he was only 1. After raising a total of $615, Janet Richards and her son were among the 100 registered participants at the American Lung Association of Michigan’s 9th annual Blow the Whistle on Asthma walk Saturday.

Stabenow will address Farm Bill

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., will be on campus today to address the Farm Bill, which will provide $290 billion to farm subsidies, nutrition programs and research funding. Stabenow will speak at a press conference with MSU officials about how the bill will impact MSU and the state, beginning at 11 a.m.
