MSU experts say self-care can help survivors during recovery, healing process

Self-care is often considered an underrated tool when it comes to mental wellbeing. It has been clinically proven to reduce anxiety, stress and depression while also strenghtening relationships. According to MSU Center for Survivors associate director Erin Roberts, self-care can be a helpful strategy for sexual assault and relationship violence survivors during their recovery process.

Gender equity review shows inadequacies, inequalities in MSU athletics

An independent review of MSU's athletic department found that female athletes did not receive as much financial assistance and had less access to sports-related resources in proportion to their male counterparts. The report also noted complaints of inferior brand materials, subpar facilities and scheduling conflicts. MSU will use the review to bring the department to "full Title IX compliance" by the 2026-2027 school year.

A national emergency alert will go off today on your phones. Here's what to know

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be testing its Wireless Emergency Alerts and Emergency Alert System today at 2:20 p.m. The WEA alert will be broadcast across all mobile cell phones across the country, and will sound a tone and vibration "similar to when your phone receives an Amber Alert." Scheduled simultaneously, the EAS portion of the test will last one minute on televisions and radios.

FAME program supports foster youth alumni at MSU and beyond

MSU's Fostering Academics, Mentoring Excellence program provides support and resources to students who are former foster youth, have experienced homelessness or are otherwise independent. FAME coordinator Chiquita Whittington said the program provides members with support networks that traditional students would typically receive from their parents.
