MSU Black Book Initiative promotes Black belonging, community resources on campus

The Black student experience at MSU is an experience that does not get highlighted enough. This is a goal The Black Book Initiative wants to express and bring to the stage, signaling that the experience is valid and deserves to be heard equally. The book serves as a step towards promoting Black involvement on campus and Black belonging on campus, a feeling that most Black students at MSU will say they did not feel entering the university. Highlighting Greek life, faith, professional development, Black-owned businesses and many more, The Black Book is an item to signify safe spaces for Black students and students of color on and off campus. 

How to approach spring cleaning in an eco-friendly way

Household cleaning chemicals are known to leech into our soil, water and air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. These chemicals find their way into the environment through aerosolized sprays, surface runoff into waterways, and from pouring used products down the drain. This spring, some students that wish to clean their house and reduce stress on the environment are using home-made alternative cleaners.

MSU DEI report shows increase in student of color population, fails to top old numbers in some areas

The MSU office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion released its annual diversity, equity, and inclusion report for the 2023-24 academic year last week. The report shows that while the undergraduate student of color population has increased overall in the last decade, some groups have decreased in number in the last two decades. 

MSU wins first Big Ten home series, beats Rutgers after walk-off single

Michigan State baseball played its first Big Ten home series this weekend, winning two of the three games, against Rutgers. With the results from this series, the Spartans jump to 12-14 overall and an even 3-3 in conference play.  

MSU to hold third annual blood drive showdown against U of M

On Thursday, April 4, University Blood Initiative's MSU and U of M chapters will go head-to-head in the third annual Battle of the Mitten Blood Drive Showdown. Spartans can help the community, and beat Michigan, by donating at the West Holmes Lobby between 12:30 and 6:15 p.m.

The MSU tabletop club is where students interested in board games and tabletop roleplaying games can find people to play with and organize campaigns. In the club, students playing games such as "Dungeons & Dragons" enjoy the large degree of freedom granted to players.

MSU hockey's Jeremy Davidson scores game-winning goal in overtime, Spartans advance in Frozen Four

Michigan State men's hockey, playing in the first round of the men's hockey NCAA Championships, commonly known as the Frozen Four, against Western Michigan University, came back from down 4-2 in the third period to tie the game and eventually emerge victorious in overtime with a 5-4 win. This win, which seemed almost impossible after the first half of the game with how much Western Michigan was dominating the Spartans, marked Michigan State's second 5-4 overtime victory in a row and allowed the team to advance to the regional finals of the Frozen Four on Sunday against the University of Michigan.

MSU hockey takes 5-4 overtime victory against Western Michigan, advances to next round of Frozen Four

 The Spartans will play on Sunday at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri, against the winner of the University of North Dakota and University of Michigan game. Puck drop will be at 6:30 p.m. ESPN2 will air the game.
