Halftime: men's basketball leads U-M 38-23

Ann Arbor, Mich. It took MSU five 3-point tries before their first make. But when senior guard Travis Trice sank a triple with 13:46 seconds left in the first half, the proverbial lid came off for MSU. The Spartans made 5-of-13 3-pointers and shot 59.3 percent in first half against rival U-M Tuesday night and lead 38-23 at halftime.

Professors say weather should not affect attendance

Michigan winters have a fearsome reputation for a reason– between the towering snowbanks, negative temperatures and freezing wind, it’s a generally unpleasant experience for most people. Everyday mundane tasks become much more difficult to do during winter, but going to class becomes especially challenging.  Elementary education junior Lauren Polens admitted she has missed class before due to cold weather, which she said is a justifiable reason.

Denzel Valentine learning to stay out of foul trouble

Junior guard Denzel Valentine has been MSU's most improved player this season. An accurate shooter, capable defender and ball handler, MSU's best basketball typically coincides when the junior guard is locked in.  Inversely, MSU's offense has a tendency to stall when Valentine is on the bench.
