Izzo thanks family, players and mentors in Hall of Fame induction
On Friday, MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo along with former NBA stars Yao Ming, Sheryl Swoopes, Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal were inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Izzo — now headed into his twenty-second year at the helm of the Spartans — is known for giving enthusiastic and emotional speeches. Izzo said at the induction ceremony on Friday that he was very thankful for the honor and repeatedly thanked his players for helping him forge a Hall of Fame coaching career.

Denzel Valentine becomes first Spartan to win AP National Player of the Year
The awards continue to roll in for MSU senior guard Denzel Valentine as it was announced Thursday that Valentine had been named National Player of the Year by the Associated Press.The award is Valentine's sixth player of the year honor for his accomplishments this season.

Denzel Valentine named NABC Player of the Year
MSU senior guard Denzel Valentine has been named the National Player of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Valentine is the third Spartan to win the award. Draymond Green previously won in 2012 and Shawn Respert won in 1995.

MSU's Marvin Clark and Javon Bess will transfer
News broke Monday that MSU sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. will transfer schools. The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. MSU later confirmed the transfer to multiple media outlets. Clark appeared in 30 of 35 contests for the Spartans during the 2015-16 season, averaging 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. Clark's transfer also opens up a scholarship for the 2016-17 season.

MSU 2016 basketball commit Cassius Winston scored 27 points and notched 12 assists to lead U-D Jesuit (27-0) to a 72-51 victory over Macomb Dakota (26-1) in the semifinals of the MHSAA Class A basketball tournament Friday from Breslin Center. In a battle of two undefeated teams, Winston and U-D Jesuit jumped on the Dakota early.
