MSU beat North Florida 98-66 in the Spartans season opener Friday night at the Breslin Center. The team dominated from start to finish, leading by as many as 29 points in the first half, and by as many as 39 after the intermission.

Kyle Ahrens out indefinitely after aggravating foot injury during practice
Ahrens sustained his first injury later on in the summer and was out four to five weeks before being able to slowly get back on the court. During media day on Oct. 11, Ahrens said he was only a couple of weeks from being completely cleared.

Ineffective shooting by MSU Thursday night allowed Ferris State to scare the Spartans in their first of three exhibition games, but MSU managed to pull away from Ferris State late in the second half to secure a 80-72 victory over the Bulldogs, who finished with a school all-time best 18-3 in league action last season.
