MSU Comic Forum explores perspectives, personal stories through comic art

The Michigan State University Comic Forum transformed the university library’s third floor into a hub for comic enthusiasts, artists and scholars on during its 15th triennial convention on Saturday. From watercolor paintings with pens and paintbrushes to digital creations with a mouse, each artist had their own distinctive styles while staying true to one common theme: using art as a creative outlet.

MSU artist in residence holds community workshops to democratize visual storytelling

Over the past two weekends, the East Lansing Public Library hosted an "Introduction to Documentary Filmmaking" workshop for high school students aged 15-18. The workshop was run through Pop Up Docs, a non profit organization that provides workshops for aspiring visual journalists from underrepresented groups.

Virtual Reality walk-in sessions at MSU library engage students and staff with new opportunity

The Michigan State main library and the Digital Scholarship Lab are bringing back Open Virtual Reality walk-in sessions. These events, which occur from 3 - 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, allow students and staff to connect with technology by playing games, conducting research and browsing the system, all by using VR.

Michigan State hosted its seventh annual Diversity Research Showcase featuring MSU undergraduate student work on issues relating to diversity that advance inclusion. The event, which was a partnership of 10 different MSU associations, was part of the university's week-long Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration.

MSU Wharton Center holds 'Mamma Mia!' College Night, connects students in celebration of theater

On Thursday, Wharton Center Student Marketing Organization put on "Mammia Mia!" College Night, their last college night of the year. The event took place above the Grand Cobb Theatre before the showing of Broadway’s "Mammia Mia!". Students in attendance were able to help themselves to food and drinks, and even hear from the show’s cast members in a Q&A segment.

Boston University Faculty Director and Associate Professor Dr. Anthony Jack gave a talk at MSU on Thursday as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration that ran throughout the week. The talk, titled “Revisiting the Beloved Community: Health Colleges’ Supporting our most vulnerable as we work for Health Equity," focused on the ways in which differences in students' backgrounds can influence how they navigate college curriculum.

Michigan State University's African American Celebratory, or AAC, hosted its annual Fall Black Grad event, which took place in the MSU Union Ballroom yesterday at 4 p.m. This is the 22nd Black Grad ceremony, and around 73 graduates were present with friends and family.

TikTok influencers, toxic masculinity and representation: MSU students discuss

Throughout November, Tiktok Influencer Prayag Mishra has become a prominent figure of what has become known as the “sassy man apocalypse” on social media. Human biology freshman Isha Alsam said she feels culturally represented by Mishra. “As a Brown person myself, we’re very silly and I love seeing that one side in Brown men,” she said. “There needs to be more of that.”
