International students do not travel here lightly. For most, accepting an offer from a United States university requires hours of paperwork, immense financial costs and moving to a new location with no established support system. Pursuing an education in this way is an act of bravery and grit.
Most candidates don’t seem to understand the community they hope to govern, either ignorant to the nuances of the issues facing the current board or void of a plan to make their agendas tangible.
This was our home. And it will never be the same.
We, as MSU students and journalists, have seen where the board’s priorities lie. By running to the press with rumors and creating this avoidable chaos, our elected officials have proven they’re not in a place to make any sort of decision about MSU administration. The board needs to hold a public meeting to sort this out transparently.
Representation is only the first step down a long path to ensuring racial justice and equity in the United States; nationally and locally.
We want to be positive allies for survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence. That means adjusting our allyship as time goes on.
There’s still time to support student safety. We’d much rather require students to be vaccinated than see another outbreak that results in another year of virtual learning. Now is the time to be proactive, MSU. Do the right thing.
By failing to condemn the acts of hatred against MSU students, MSU made one thing clear: the university does not support its LGBTQ+ community.
While the presidential race is important, it is essential that we don’t only consider the weight of our vote in the context of the presidential election.

With tensions running especially high recently between citizens and police around the nation, both MSU and the cities of Lansing and East Lansing have ordered body cameras to be worn by its police force. But despite the cost and other uncertainties, this is the right decision by these departments, and one that, considering recent turmoil between citizens and police, seems like a no-brainer.
A mistake is pulling a door that should be pushed or driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Even greater errors of judgment can fit under that category. But assaulting someone is never a mistake.
