MSU suffers data breach, exposing about 400,000 university records

MSU suffered a data breach exposing a database with about 400,000 records on Nov. 13, the university has confirmed. An unauthorized party accessed a university server which contains "sensitive data," according to the press release. Database contained about 400,000 records, including names, social security numbers and MSU identification numbers of some current and former students and employees.

Sparty’s Cabin, an environmentally sustainable “tiny house” built on a trailer, is now up for auction through a closed bid on the MSU Surplus Store’s website. The house will be on display on the front lawn of the Justin S. Morrill Hall of Agriculture this Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a press release from MSU Agriculture and Natural Resources.

University hosts 'Day After' event in response to election result

Wednesday night, students, faculty and community members gathered in the Business Complex for an event called “The Day After.” This event provided an inclusive space where members of the community could reflect on the election and voice their thoughts. The first hour of The Day After included asking a panel of alumni questions about where the country is headed and what can be done in response.
