MSU hires firm to investigate Title IX complaints

The firm, Kroll, will start immediately, according to a press release Tuesday. From the 2015-16 school year to the 2016-17 year, OIE had a 35 percent increase in reported incidents, and the number is expected to continue increasing, according to the release.

Father who lunged at Nassar to donate GoFundMe earnings

The father of three daughters who were sexually abused by ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar became the recipient of $30,000 via a GoFundMe page after he lunged at Nassar in court. He plans to donate the money that isn't refunded to local charities that work with survivors of sexual assault.

Residential colleges pen open letter to MSU Board of Trustees

In a noteworthy display of student ingenuity, the student councils of MSU’s residential colleges penned an open letter to the MSU Board of Trustees. In the letter, the James Madison Student Senate, The Lyman Briggs Student Advisory Council and The Residential College in the Arts and Humanities Council expressed a statement of no confidence in the Board of Trustees.

Elementary education sophomore Bethany Caswell and communication sophomore Sophie Lynskey were not able to experience welcome week, moving in the dorms with hallways full of people. Instead, they came to MSU at a time where campus had no signs, nearly empty and only Brody’s dining hall was open. No groups, no welcome and no freshman experience.
