Spartans clobber Illini, sit alone atop Big Ten

To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. The MSU men’s basketball team made a strong case as the Big Ten’s top dog Saturday, knocking off the last team standing in its way of perching atop of the Big Ten standings outright, hammering Illinois 73-63 on Saturday afternoon in front of an inspired capacity crowd at Breslin Center.

Merchant blasts Spartans' leaders after loss

Embarrassing. Negligent. Inexcusable. Lowest point. Those were the words women’s basketball head coach Suzy Merchant used after watching her team’s offense fade into the night while blowing a 14-point second half lead in a 48-45 loss to Wisconsin on Thursday at Breslin Center.
