Spartans preparing for CCHA tournament

After a week off, the MSU hockey team is ready to go. Standing in the way of a trip to Joe Louis Arena is one of the hottest teams in the nation, Northern Michigan, which knocked off Ohio State 6-1 on Sunday night to move into the quarterfinals.

Icers top Falcons on Senior Night, 6-3

After scoring 18 seconds apart to put the Spartans up 4-1 against Michigan last Friday, the duo of Justin Abdelkader and Tim Kennedy did it again Friday night against Bowling Green. With the pesky Falcons pushing to upset the Spartans on Senior Night yet again, Abdelkader and Kennedy scored 22 seconds apart late in the third period to break a 3-3 deadlock, leading MSU to a 6-3 victory at Munn Ice Arena.

One final salute

Bring plenty of tissues for tonight’s 7:05 p.m. game against Bowling Green. It will mark the last night the seniors on the MSU hockey team will skate at Munn Ice Arena during the regular season, and it’s bound to get emotional.

Team tries to stay focused for Falcons game

With only two games left in the season, the MSU hockey team isn’t taking Bowling Green lightly. After all, the Spartans lost last year to the Falcons on MSU’s senior night, which was the last time the team’s seniors skated at Munn Ice Arena during the regular season.

Icers buck Broncos, sweep series

For five years, Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo perplexed the MSU hockey team. Saturday’s game would hold the answer to the riddle for the Spartans, who defeated Western Michigan 4-2 — the first win on the Broncos’ ice since 2003.
