The Michigan State hockey team’s student section — more affectionately known as the Munnsters — is adopting a new membership model for the upcoming season, akin to current Izzone memberships.

Memberships allow students to purchase Munnsters tickets on a single-game basis during a selection period in September. The membership also includes an official Munnsters 2026-27 hockey jersey.

Munnsters will collect points for purchasing a membership and attending games, like Izzone members.

MSU Athletics has not outlined what Munnsters’ points will count towards, but Izzone members with higher points receive earlier game selection and priority seating. Munnsters and Izzone points are counted separately.

In recent years, Munnsters would pay a one-time fee for access to all home games. MSU Athletics added two additional ticket packages last season, allowing students to pay a one-time fee for access to select home games.

Munnsters section leaders Kailee Chambers and Madison Vollmer called Munnsters tickets a "hope and a prayer" due to the limited availability, but added that the ticketing packages helped last season.

MSU Athletics announced the change in an email, writing that the membership system "creates opportunities for more students to be a part of the Munnsters."

Tickets to the MSU hockey games have become a hot item over the last four years as the program rose in national rankings under coach Adam Nightingale. The team has captured three straight Big Ten regular-season titles and two consecutive Big Ten Tournament Championships in the last three years.

Memberships cost $75. Returning members can purchase memberships on Tuesday, Aug. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. All other students can purchase memberships on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m.

Football is now the only MSU sport that offers one-time charges to students, and is not based on a membership model.
