Michigan State So. G, Noelle Henning (0), saves a shot on goal and waves to her team to move up the field in DeMartin Stadium in East Lansing, Mich., on Aug. 12, 2026.

Noelle Henning, a sophomore goalkeeper for the Michigan State women’s soccer team, has been named to Canada’s roster for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, announced by Canada Soccer yesterday.

The tournament will be held Sept. 5-27 in Poland, prompting Henning to miss part of the Spartans' season. MSU has five Big Ten contests during that period, including rival Michigan.

This will be Henning’s second U-20 World Cup, as she competed in 2024 alongside current Spartan seniors Kayla Briggs and Renee Watson.

Henning has started both of the Spartans' games this season, making six saves combined and recording shutouts in both. She ranks 10th in career shutouts (10) at MSU through 23 games.

Last season, Henning was the primary goalkeeper for MSU, backing the team to the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament and the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament — the furthest postseason run in MSU program history.

The 19-year-old has represented her country since 2022. She competed in the 2022 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the U-15 and U-17 Women’s CONCACAF Championships that year.

Henning backed Canada’s U-20 team to the 2025 CONCACAF Championship and was named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper. She was also called up to the senior national team for exhibition contests prior to arriving at MSU.
