Crime blotter: larency, traffic stops and damage to property

Larceny and traffic stops were both reported multiple times last week, along with one report of damage to property.

The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety disclosed the incidents under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, which requires universities to publicly list reported criminal offenses and is subject to change as events are reported.

Incidents are distinguished by the date they were reported in crime blotter reports. This week's reported incidents may include incidents from days prior.

Saturday 8/1

A traffic stop involving someone driving with an expired driver’s license occurred around 1 p.m. near Beaumont Road and Forest Road.

A traffic stop involving someone driving with a suspended license occurred around 10 p.m. near Forest Road and Harrison Road. According to the Clery log, this incident resulted in a citation.

Sunday 8/2

A traffic stop involving someone driving under the influence of liquor or drugs occurred around 2 a.m. near Michigan Avenue and Grand River Avenue. According to the Clery log, this incident resulted in an arrest.

Monday 8/3

No incidents were reported on this day.

Tuesday 8/4

Trespassing occurred around 10:15 a.m. at the MSU Union. According to the MSU DPPS, the subject was issued a citation for trespassing and was arrested.

A traffic stop involving someone driving with a suspended license, expired registration, and no insurance occurred around 12:20 p.m. near Harrison Road and Mount Hope Road. According to the Clery log, this incident resulted in an arrest.

Wednesday 8/5

A traffic stop involving someone driving with a suspended license and invalid registration occurred around 3:10 p.m. near Michigan Avenue and Harrison Road.

Larceny occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 near Lot 14. MSU DPPS reported that this incident involved a reportedly stolen bike.

Another case of larceny occurred around midnight on April 15 at the Music Building. MSU DPPS reported that this incident involved a reportedly stolen bike.

Thursday 8/6

An MSU ordinance violation involving someone flying a drone on campus occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Spartan Stadium.

A traffic stop involving someone driving with a suspended license occurred around 11 p.m. near Michigan Avenue and LaSalle Court.

Friday 8/7

A traffic stop involving someone driving without a driver’s license or registration occurred around 8:30 a.m near Mount Hope Road and Hagadorn Road. According to the Clery log, this incident resulted in an arrest.

A traffic stop involving someone driving with an invalid license occurred around 11:15 p.m. near Farm Lane and Mount Hope Road. According to the Clery log, this incident resulted in a citation.

Damage to property was reported to have occurred around midnight on July 24 near Bogue Street and Waters Edge Drive. MSU DPPS reported that this incident involved damage to a solar panel and a light pole.
