MSU athletics announced Tuesday morning that the university had reached a five-year contract extension with the women's soccer head coach.
Athletics Director J Batt said he’s looking to continue the team's success with Hosler at the helm.
"We are building one of the most complete women's soccer programs in the country at Michigan State, and we couldn't be more excited to have Coach Hosler continuing to lead those efforts for many years to come," Batt said.
Hosler has transformed the Spartans women’s team from mediocrity to a consistent national contender. In the five years before Hosler was hired in 2020, the Spartans carried a 27-51-7 record. Since, he’s led MSU on the pitch to a 70-20-20 record with two regular-season Big Ten championships (2022 and 2023), back-to-back Sweet 16s (2023 and 2024), and the program’s first Elite Eight during the 2025 season.
Hosler and MSU own the nation’s eighth-best recruiting class heading into the 2026 season. This past fall, MSU finished second in the Big Ten and fell to Washington in penalty kicks during the Big Ten Tournament Championship game.
Hosler now looks to build on the achievements of the past five years.
"To have achieved so many incredible milestones in such a rapid time frame is a direct result of the steadfast commitment by our players, coaches, support staff and the Spartan community," Hosler said. "With a strong foundation set, there is no better time to be a Spartan and in the Big Ten Conference. We will continue growth daily and firmly believe we will reach even greater heights at Michigan State."
