The Michigan State men’s tennis team concluded its best season of the modern era two weeks ago: 19-9 overall, 12-1 in conference play, along with a Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles. But the coach who led it there will not return.

Head coach Harry Jadun stepped down to pursue opportunities outside of collegiate coaching, according to an MSU Athletics press release. Jadun led the Spartans for four seasons, after returning to his alma mater in 2022. Mike Flowers, who served as an assistant coach to Jadun for all four seasons, was named the new head coach.

MSU tennis rose to the top under Jadun and Flowers’ coaching, marking three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Jadun was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season as the Spartans won 10-straight conference matches and upset No. 1 Ohio State on the road for the first time since 1998.

Jadun recruited the team's top players, including its graduating seniors. Ozan Baris is leaving MSU men's tennis as a three-time All-American, four-time All Big Ten athlete, and an NCAA Individual Championships National Runner-Up (2025).

Jadun also brought Aristotelis Thanos to East Lansing after meeting him at a professional tournament in Greece. Thanos brought a veteran presence to the team.

Like Jadun, Flowers was a student-athlete at MSU (2004-07) prior to joining the coaching staff. He captained the Spartans twice and was nationally ranked as high as No. 3 in doubles and No. 25 in singles. He has extensive experience working in player development as an assistant coach, and is already familiar with the team.
