Minnesota junior Jimmy Clarke (23) prepares for a face-off during a game against Michigan State University at 3M Arena at Mariucci in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Michigan State hockey has just received two commits out of the transfer portal: future-senior forward Jimmy Clark (from Minnesota) and future-junior goaltender Quentin Sigurdson (from Northeastern).

Clark will add forward experience from within the Big Ten, and Sigurdson will serve as an additional goaltender since the Spartans have lost Trey Augustine (signed professional contract), Melvin Strahl (transferred to Minnesota) and Dolan Gilbert (entered the transfer portal).

Jimmy Clark

Clark spent three seasons at Minnesota and often started games this season. He put up 16 points (4 goals, 12 assists) in 36 games of the 2025-26 season. While he held a negative on-ice rating this season (-7), Minnesota as a whole struggled and his ratings were higher in his last two seasons

Clark played under coach Adam Nightingale on the U.S. National Team Development Program, alongside former Spartans Isaac Howard, Red Savage and Charlie Stramel.

Clark was one of seven Golden Gophers to enter the transfer portal following a coaching change and an 11-22-3 overall record. He was drafted to the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft.

Quentin Sigurdson

Sigurdson enters East Lansing after playing just four games (2-2) at Northeastern within the Hockey East Association. The 6-foot-2 goaltender posted a 2.73 goals-against average with a .920 save percentage. One of his wins includes a 3-2 victory over Boston University last November.

Whether Sigurdson will start or split time with another goaltender will be determined by who signs with MSU for the upcoming season. First-round goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen is committed to MSU and is expected in the fall.
