Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will speak at Michigan State University’s undergraduate convocation on May 1. 

The announcement was made by MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz during his remarks at Friday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

“She's very excited about joining us on campus to send our graduates off in just about three weeks,” Guskiewicz said.

Whitmer previously addressed advanced degree graduates in a 2019 commencement ceremony. She is a two-time graduate of MSU, having earned her B.A. in communication in 1993 and her law degree from the College of Law in 1998.

MSU alum and former human resources executive Christopher Fernandez will speak at the educational specialist and master’s degree commencement ceremony. University Distinguished Professor of Educational Administration Ann Austin will speak at the doctoral commencement ceremony.
