The East Lansing Police Department on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.
East Lansing police officers responded to a theft at a business on Lake Lansing and Abbot roads at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday that evolved into a stabbing by a suspect.
Multiple officers fired their service weapons while responding to the call, according to a city press release.
There is no outstanding threat to the public.
The Michigan State Police will be conducting an investigation of the shooting, as is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
The incident occurred roughly two miles north of MSU's campus near the Arbor Glen Apartments complex and The Cottages.
Updates on the status of the person who was stabbed will be given at a 9:30 p.m. press conference at the East Lansing Public Library.
