With 9 players leaving Michigan State women's basketball team either through graduation or the transfer portal, it was clear head coach Robyn Fralick and her staff would be busy in the offseason.

Nine days after the portal opened, the Spartans landed their first new addition on Wednesday — Anna Wypych, a freshman guard from Butler who will be playing her next season of college ball just 77 miles from her high school.

Wypych is a former Michigan Miss Basketball winner, an award which recognizes the best female high school senior basketball player in the state. She earned the award after her senior season at Rockford High School in 2025, where she led her team to a District and Regional Championship while averaging 22 points per game.

As a freshman at Butler, Wypych appeared in 29 of 31 games, starting three. She averaged 16 minutes per contest, recording 6.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists. A solid freshman season that featured standout performances like a career-high 21 points against DePaul and leading the Bulldogs in scoring in their only Big East Tournament game against Georgetown with 18.

With the addition, the Spartans now have eight players on their roster — barring senior guard Theryn Hallock's return for a fifth year — with Wypych becoming the sixth guard. Bringing back homegrown in-state talent is a good start for an offseason that will include many new faces being welcomed to East Lansing.
