MSU faces North Dakota State at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, but today, Jeremy Fears Jr. added to his trophy closet with his first national award.
Rounding out a first-team All-Big Ten season, Jeremy Fears Jr. was named an AP second-team All-American.
Starting every game this year, Fears averages a team-leading 15.7 points and 9.2 assists per game, which lead the nation. He has established himself as one of the best floor generals in the country as a redshirt sophomore. Fears passed Cassius Winston last Friday against UCLA on the single-season assist list.
“It’s definitely something that I wanted to reach,” Fears said after practice on Monday. “Those guys [Winston and Mateen Cleaves] had great careers here, Final Fours, even a national championship. So that's definitely stuff and goals that I have for myself.”
Fears was tabbed to the second-team AP All-American list with Purdue’s Braden Smith, Illinois’ Keaton Wagler, North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson and Joshua Jefferson of Iowa State.
