From Warsaw to the Breslin Center spotlight, Karolina Staniszewska’s junior season was one to remember. The Michigan State outside hitter earned a spot on the 2025 All-Big Ten Volleyball Second Team, the conference announced last Tuesday afternoon, marking the first all-conference honor of her collegiate career.
Voted on by the league’s head coaches, the recognition capped a season in which Staniszewska became the constant of the Spartan lineup. The junior was the only Michigan State player to start all 30 matches this season, missing just one set all year as she logged action in 112 of 113 possible sets. Along the way, she helped power MSU to an 18–12 record — the program’s most wins in a season since 2017.
Simply put, when the Spartans needed a kill, Staniszewska always had the best timing.
She led the team in total kills (349) and kills per set (3.12), posting 248 of those kills in Big Ten play at a 3.26 kill-per-set clip against some of the nation’s toughest competition. The milestone moment came in the season finale against UCLA, when she eclipsed 500 career kills, finishing the year with 513.
And the numbers weren’t just loud — they were everywhere. Staniszewska posted nine double-doubles, recorded double-digit kills in a team-best 19 matches and added 12 double-digit dig performances. Her season also featured new career highs across the stat sheet, including 23 kills at Iowa, 19 digs and four aces against Purdue and five total blocks in a September matchup with Bowling Green.
The 2025 volleyball season gave Spartan fans plenty to cheer about. And with Staniszewska a part of the 2025 All-Big Ten Volleyball Second Team, the Green and White look poised to keep that momentum rolling.
