Crime blotter: Hazing, assault and larceny reported last week

September 23, 2025

Various hit-and-run motor vehicle accidents, multiple sexual assault cases and 17 cases of larceny were reported last week.

MSU disclosed the incidents under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, which requires universities to list reported criminal offenses publicly. The State News filed Freedom of Information Act requests for police reports of notable incidents, and under state law, MSU has three weeks to respond.

Mandatory reports do not necessarily involve police, as they can come from university employees such as staff, faculty and administrators. Campus Police Deputy Chief Chris Rozman clarified that, “In some instances, a police report and subsequent investigation may not occur unless the victim or survivor chooses to file a formal report with law enforcement, although the incident may appear on the Clery Crime and Fire Log with the title 'Mandatory Report'.”
