Following MSU’s 70-64 loss to No. 1 Auburn in the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, junior guard Tre Holloman and redshirt freshman guard Gehrig Normand entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, April 1.
Holloman’s agents told ESPN the Minnesota native will try to explore other options after helping his team to a 30-7 season and run to the South Regional finals. The decision was later confirmed by a Michigan State University men's basketball program spokesperson.
Appearing in all 37 games and starting in the first 16, Holloman averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He became a "sixth starter" and brought his poise and energy to the second lineup. Holloman was also a captain.
Normand posted to his Instagram story Tuesday morning confirming that he entered the portal. He played 26 minutes in 13 games this season, having scored eight points and dishing three assists.
Normand has three years of eligibility remaining.
Even though they entered the transfer portal, Holloman and Normand can still choose to stay with the Spartans for next season.
