On Wednesday, April 16, the East Lansing Police Department responded to a call of an assault by an intoxicated minor on a CATA bus.

Police responded to the call at 8 p.m., leaving the CATA bus pulled over outside of Williams Hall on Michigan Ave., with about four police cars behind it.

ELPD Public Information Officer Lt. Adrian Ojerio confirmed the incident in a statement to The State News.

"An intoxicated subject was asked to leave a CATA bus, after causing a disturbance," Ojerio said. "The subject, later identified as a juvenile, assaulted the bus driver and damaged the CATA bus."

After police responded, the juvenile was located and turned over to their parents.

"A report has been taken in and will be sent to prosecutors for a review of potential charges," Ojerio said.
