Michigan State University women’s basketball enters the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 6 seed following a strong regular season.
The Spartans (21-8, 11-7 Big Ten) secured their second consecutive 20-win season, continuing their rise under head coach Robyn Fralick. MSU spent most of the season in the AP Top 25 and made history with an 11-0 start—the best in program history.
As the No. 6 seed, MSU earns a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 11 Iowa vs. No. 14 Wisconsin. The Spartans defeated both teams at home earlier this season.
This marks just the third time MSU has been a No. 6 seed in the tournament, with the last occurrence in 2017, when the Spartans reached the semifinals before falling to Maryland and later losing to Arizona State in the NCAA Tournament.
The Big Ten tournament should be in-store for some entertaining and competitive basketball, with two of the top-five teams in the country seated in the conference. Conference regular season champions USC earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament, while UCLA and Ohio State followed as the No. 2 and 3 spots. Maryland was the final team to earn a double-bye.
The 2025 TIAA Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament runs from March 5-9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. First-round games will stream on Peacock, while BTN will broadcast the second round through the semifinals. The championship game will air on CBS on Sunday, March 9.
