Despite contending with Michigan's unpredictable weather and the looming threat of a winter storm, the East Lansing community enthusiastically gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Dave's Hot Chicken this Friday. Located just off Grand River Ave, the restaurant beckons with a tempting array of chicken-based meals, complemented by an assortment of sides and unique drinks.
The fast-casual restaurant chain originated in California and established its sixth Michigan location in East Lansing. Although the official grand-opening festivities took place on Friday, the restaurant quietly opened its doors earlier.
Post-baccalaureate MSU student Sabeth Brinkman first learned about the restaurant while in New York and has eagerly awaited East Lansing's own branch.
“The energy is palpable,” said Brinkman. “I mean, everyone’s been waiting for this place to open for months.”
As the clock struck 11 a.m., signaling the restaurant's official opening, the venue quickly filled with families, students, and community members, all eager to partake in the Nashville-style culinary experience.
Okemos High School student Gianna Grewal embarked on a lunchtime adventure with friends and said that the establishment is a fantastic place to eat. Although initially drawn by a friend's recommendation, Grewal and her companions found themselves enchanted by the diverse and original menu, she said.
The vibrant atmosphere was complemented by the kind and attentive staff, says Grewal. Throughout the day, diligent team members circulated, ensuring a pristine and interconnected dining experience for all patrons.
Community member Alex Maber attested to the restaurant's appeal, stating Dave's Hot Chicken offers the best and most affordable chicken around.
"It was awesome," Maber said. "I’d eat it every day if I could."
The restaurant's focus revolves around its signature chicken tenders, offering patrons the choice between sliders or tenders, the ability to select their preferred spice level, and the option to elevate their meal with the classic 'Dave's sauce'.
East Lansing's Dave's Hot Chicken becomes not just a restaurant but a destination—a hub for culinary exploration and community connection. The eclectic mix of flavors, combined with the warm ambiance and dedicated staff, transforms a casual dining experience into a memorable celebration of food, friendship and the spirit of East Lansing.
