After 5 sweeps this season, and a most recent sweep against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Spartans have managed to stay in a solid top 10 spot in the national polls.

They moved up one spot last week on a bye week in the USCHO polls, moving from No. 8 to No. 7 and have stayed in their seventh place spot this week in the polls.

They also held onto their No. 7 place in the USA Hockey polls.

The Spartans have yet to lose a conference game in regulation, holding an 11-3-1 record, only being swept by No. 1 Boston College during the first month of the season.

Along with their high ranked spot in the polls, freshman goaltender Trey Augustine was honored with Big Ten First Star of the week for the second time in a month.

From a press release, Augustine has posted a .929% save in the Big Ten and a 2.55 GAA to help the Spartans to their 7-1-2 record in conference play.

He has a total of 534 saves and sits fourth nationally and second in the Big Ten for his outstanding effort between the pipes. He also stopped 66 out of 69 shots over the weekend to help in the successful sweep of Notre Dame.

The Spartans will be back in action on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena against Ferris State for the beginning of the Great Lakes Invitational, where the Spartans look to take home the win.
