Following a crushing defeat to Michigan on Saturday night, Michigan State Football is likely to lose another player to the transfer portal, interim head coach Harlon Barnett announced during his weekly press conference Monday.
Redshirt junior defensive lineman Simeon Barrow Jr. has held discussions with Barnett and the coaching staff over the past several weeks. Barrow Jr. met with Barnett before his weekly press conference and explained his intent, which didn’t come as a surprise based on past conversations.
“I think, you know, he may be gone,” Barnett said. “I think he’s going to jump in (to the transfer portal) personally, and that’s what it’s going to be. I wish him nothing but the best.”
Barrow Jr. has been one of the defensive leaders for the Spartans for quite some time. In 2023, he recorded 19 total tackles to go along with one and a half sacks. Not to mention, Barrow Jr. has been a three-year starter at MSU, dating back to his redshirt freshman season.
Barrow Jr. would be the third Spartan to officially enter the transfer portal if he ultimately decides to leave the program.
The rest of the players on Michigan State’s roster have until Oct. 26 to decide if they will remain with the team or transfer due to Mel Tucker’s firing, which opened up the transfer portal for a month.
