Head Coach Tom Izzo yells at the team on the floor during the second half. The Spartans lost to the Fighting Illini in the final seconds, 56-55, at State Farm Center on Jan. 25, 2022.

Jase Richardson, a 2024 four-star recruit and son of former Michigan State guard Jason Richardson, announced his commitment to Michigan State Sunday, choosing the Spartans over Alabama and Cincinnati

A 6’3 combo guard from Miami, FL, Richardson is ranked No. 28 in the 2024 ESPN 100 rankings and can play on and off the ball offensively. With MSU head men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo’s history of three-guard lineups, Richardson is in a solid position to see the floor from day one.

Richardson joins four-star shooting guard Kur Teng and three-star forward Jesse McCullough in MSU’s 2024 class. It’s entirely tangible that Spartans fans see a starting backcourt featuring Richardson and current freshman Jeremy Fears Jr. in 2024-2025.

Prior to transferring to Columbus High School in Miami alongside his brother Jaxon, Richardson played for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Richardson’s father, Jason, played at Michigan State from 1999-2001 and won a national championship in 2000 before being selected at No. 5 in the 2001 NBA Draft by Golden State and playing over a decade in the NBA
