Spartan first baseman Brock Vradenburg crouches at the ready during Michigan State's final game of the series against Michigan.

Brock Vradenburg, the second of Michigan State Baseball’s top 2023 MLB Draft prospects, was selected in the third round by the Miami Marlins at pick number 78 on Day Two Monday afternoon.

The 6’7 first baseman was taken a round after fellow Spartan Mitch Jebb.

Vradenburg was rated as a four round talent as the 117th best prospect according to MLB.com’s Prospect Rankings.

The three-year MSU power hitter hit a .400 batting average his senior season, which brought his college average up to .326. He also mashed 18 home runs and 108 RBIs in his tenure with the green and white.

Vradenburg made history last season with MSU as he was only the second MSU Baseball student-athlete to earn both Athletic and Academic All-American Honors in the same season, the first since 1974 when Dale Drietch also earned Third-Team Athletic All-American accolades and First-Team Academic All-American honors.

This draft marks the first time in four years that more than one Michigan State player was selected to the major leagues in the same draft. It is also the first time since 2015 that multiple players have been selected from MSU in the first 10 rounds.
