Beginning Wednesday, June 14, MSU Department of Police and Public Safety and MSU Parking will each have their own websites launch.

The websites have been in the works for a little over a year, and Communications Manager for MSU Police and Public Safety Dana Whyte said that the team is very excited for the launch.

"Currently, our website is police.msu.edu and it has all of the police information, public safety information and parking information," Whyte said.  "Under our department, we housed all of those areas, but typically when people are looking for something online about the university, if they're looking for parking specifically, it just made sense to separate that."

The parking website, now its own separate site, will contain all the information on permits and lot information, including maps and everything that's parking related. The Department of Police and Public Safety website will have all of the information about the police services, public safety, survivor support and related content.

"It's a big project that we've been working on, and we're excited to share with our community what that will look like," Whyte said. "We hope that the new websites will make things easier for students when they're looking for information and will look more in line with the university's main website as well."

Most of the information on the websites will be the same, just updated.  On the current website, there are dozens of pages. Whyte and her team went through all of those pages and made sure that the information was up to date before moving it over to the new website.

The mission of this initiative is to make the sites more user friendly and make information easier to find.

"I think it will definitely make our services more apparent," Whyte said.  "We house a lot of different services under police and public safety, and all of those may not necessarily be known to the community.  I think that these new websites will help people see the services that we have and then reach out if they would like to utilize any of them."
