East Lansing Police Department is asking people to avoid the area around the intersection of Lake Lansing Road and Coolidge Road after a serious car accident.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old Williamston man and 20-year-old Lansing man were confirmed dead at the scene, the ELPD announced. The names of the car crash victims was not released.
Six other individuals were transported to a local hospital the night of the crash.
Two survivors have been discharged from the hospital, according to the ELPD. Three survivors remain hospitalized with one in critical condition.
The fourth survivor was airlifted on the night of the crash to the University of Michigan Hospital.
ELPD Sgt. Jayson Young told The State News the crash involved two cars.
The crash is under ongoing investigation. ELPD asks anyone with information related to the accident to contact ELPD Officer Steve Whelan at (517) 319-6897, ext. 6637.
