Former Michigan State and Charlotte Hornets basketball player Miles Bridges will serve a 10 day suspension to start the 2023-24 season if he signs with a team in the offseason, according to a press release from NBA Communications.
Bridges was charged with felony domestic assault of his partner in Los Angeles over the Summer. His wife, Mychelle Johnson, later posted an image of her face following the alleged crime, stating that she suffered a "fractured nose, wrist, torn eardrum, torn muscles in (her) neck from being choked until went to sleep and a severe concussion."
Back in November, Bridges pleaded no-contest to one felony account of injuring a child's parent in exchange for three years probation and no jail time.
The NBA's investigation into the matter came to a close this afternoon, with the league doling out a 30-day suspension without pay.
"The 30 game suspension is based on all facts and circumstances of this matter and considers the conduct and its result, as well as the outcome of the criminal matter, among other factors," reads the NBA's official press release.
However, because Bridges missed the 2022-23 season, the NBA is considering 20 days of the suspension already served. Bridges is currently a free agent – if he signs with a team, he'll have to miss 10 games to start the season.
