Led by trustees Dennis Denno and Brianna Scott, the search for Michigan State’s next president has begun in collaboration with executive search firm Isaacson, Miller.

The presidential search committee will hold six open forum community listening sessions throughout the month of April.

The committee, chaired by Denno and vice chaired by Scott, will also include trustees Renee Knake Jefferson and Dan Kelly, a press release said. The rest of the committee has not been named but will be made up of faculty, staff, student, alumni, and leader representatives.

“They will help determine the attributes desired for the next MSU president, collect community input, screen and interview top applicants and work with the board so that it can fulfill its constitutional responsibility of selecting the president,” the release said.

Listening sessions for community input will be held virtually on April 14 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., April 19 from noon to 1 p.m., April 24 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., April 25 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and April 28 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Information on how to register for the sessions will be released later.

The press release said an additional open forum will be shared next week along with listening sessions with university stakeholders and “other ways in which the community can provide feedback about the presidential search.” In the release, Denno and Scott said they “will listen carefully to community input” and that it will play an important role in the search.

“We look forward to working with the Spartan community in finding the right person to lead the university toward new horizons and accomplishments in the years ahead,” the release said.

A presidential search website has been created and includes sections for search updates and community input. Community members can contact the search committee at presidentialsearch@msu.edu.
