Two locations are open for drop-offs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

• Student Services Building
  • 556 E Circle Drive, Room 113

• Career Services Office
  • 535 Chestnut Rd. Room 290.

The program is dedicated to providing students with clothing free of cost so they can walk into a professional environment feeling comfortable and confident, coordinators Victoria Morris and Ellise Lee said. 

“Fitting in” and “looking right for the part" is important, Morris said.

 "We understand that that’s not always the case for some students, so providing a free-of-cost closet where a student can come and get the things that they need or what they’d like to make them feel great, that’s really kind of what inspired this initiative and why we’re moving forward to collect items,” Morris said. 

Students can borrow the outfits for two weeks at a time but visit the closet as often as needed.

Following the drive's Monday, March 20 launch, enough donations have been received to put together numerous outfits. Donations are sought through April to collect a diverse selection of items.

Morris' goal is to include be inclusive of everyone who needs professional clothing with a wide range of options.

“Not just traditional masculine or feminine things,” she said. “Thing that are more gender fluid and for a variety of sizes. We hope to get things that represent a full spectrum of the size range.“ 

The initiative is also holding an online fundraiser to raise money in case they need to purchase sizes that are not collected during the drive. 

“We recognize how important it is for any student, regarding their gender, their sexuality, their size, they need to be able to come into this closet and feel like they can find something that will work for them. Because otherwise we are not doing our job,” Morris said.  

The Career Services Network will host a grand opening for the professional closet in the fall. Morris said it will be well stocked just in time for fall career fairs.
