ASMSU officers worked closely with the student government at the University of Virginia to figure out the best way to aid the student body in healing in the aftermath of the mass shooting.

“One of the questions that we made sure we wanted to ask was, what do you think was the most beneficial to get students to a place where they were comfortable on campus again?” ASMSU President Jo Kovach said.  “ I really liked the idea of having a Spartan Love Fund that brings the love back to campus.” 

There are many registered student organizations that exist within Michigan State University. 

“The reason I go to these other clubs and stuff is because I feel like I’m part of that community in that club,” ASMSU Vice President of Finance and Operations Vipul Adusumilli said.

While being at MSU means you are a part of the Spartan community, there are also many other communities to be a part of.

“We’ve kind of found that as students the time we feel the best are when we are with each other and when we have that sense of community between us all,” Stover said.  “A big part of that community on campus is our registered student organizations.”

Putting the community back together is something that the university and ASMSU have been working at with different events and accommodations put in place throughout the past few weeks.

“We started this fund with the hopes of (registered student organizations) or just other groups on campus to hopefully host events on campus to bring back their community, bring back whoever, just so we can all feel united.” Adusumilli said.

All registered student organizations qualify for these funds, but they must put it in an application.

“If people want to get things that are going to make their community feel more like a community again, then we are 100% here for that and wanting to help in any way we can,” Kovach said.
