Michigan State now sits at No. 11 in the Week 3 AP Top 25 poll, following a 52-0 victory over the Akron Zips on Saturday. The Spartans climbed three spots from where they were ranked previously at 14.
Redshirt junior quarterback Payton Thorne continued to struggle this week throwing two interceptions, while other players, including running backs redshirt sophomore Jalen Berger and fifth-year Jarek Broussard, shined, rushing for a combined 188 yards and five touchdowns, which helped MSU shut out the Zips.
MSU is now ranked 10 in the Student Media Top 25 poll as well.
The Spartans look to enter the AP top 10 next week as they head to Washington to play the Huskies in their first road game of the season.
Other Big Ten teams to make the Week 3 AP Poll are No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Michigan and No. 22 Penn State.
