Michigan State Athetics announced Tuesday afternoon that sophomore guard Jaden Akins plans to be out for the next four weeks after undergoing surgery this past Saturday on a stress reaction in his left foot.
It's expected that Akins will make a full recovery after the surgery performed by foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Robert B. Anderson, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Akins hails from Farmington, Michigan, where he played for Farmington High School, and was ranked No. 50 nationally and No. 12 for point guards by 24/7Sports.
As a freshman at MSU playing 14.8 minutes per game, Akins averaged 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He made major strides as the season progressed, and with the departure of Max Christie, the uber-athletic Akins is projected to have a major role with the Spartans with the season tipping-off in the first week of November.
