Men's basketball releases official schedule for 2022-23 season

September 8, 2022

The Spartans lost to the Fighting Illini in the final seconds, 56-55, at State Farm Center on Jan. 25, 2022.

Michigan State men’s basketball’s official schedule for the 2022-23 season was released Thursday.

The Spartans open the season with an exhibition game against Grand Valley State University at the Breslin Center on Nov. 1.

MSU will face off against Gonzaga in the Armed Forces Classic on Veteran’s Day aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in San Diego. It’s the first time the game will be played on an aircraft carrier since MSU’s match up with North Carolina in 2011.

Following the Veteran’s Day game, MSU will play in the Champions Classic against Kentucky on Nov. 15 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

MSU will host Northwestern for its Big Ten season opener Dec. 4 at the Breslin Center.

The first rivalry match-up game between the Spartans and the Wolverines will take place on Jan. 7. A rematch between the two teams will take place, later in the season, on Feb. 18 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor.

Michigan State ended its 2021-22 season with a loss to the Duke Blue Devils in the second round of the NCAA tournament in March.

With redshirt senior forward Joey Hauser, senior forward Malik Hall, senior guard Tyson Walker and junior guard A.J. Hoggard all returning to the squad, The Spartans look to make their 25th consecutive tournament run this season.
