The city of East Lansing will be hosting its second annual "Moonlight ExtravaGRANDza" downtown on Monday from 8 to 11 p.m.

The late-night event will showcase East Lansing's local businesses to new and returning Michigan State University students as part of the university's welcome week.

A myriad of businesses downtown will line the sidewalks, offering giveaways and deals to students, as well as live entertainment throughout.

“The event provides a great opportunity for students to get to know their downtown, while also providing our businesses and community with an opportunity to welcome students to East Lansing and showcase all that downtown East Lansing has to offer,” East Lansing community and economic development specialist Matthew Apostle said in a release.

Students will have the opportunity to get to know businesses through the "ExtravaGavenger Hunt". Those who complete the hunt will receive a t-shirt and be entered in a raffle to win a pair of AirPods Pro or a 43-inch Smart TV.

Zeke the Wonderdog will be in attendance at Sharp Park, and free succulents will be passed out at the East Lansing Marriot plaza. Some live events of the night include a caricaturist, body paint artist and cyr wheel spinner.

Live music entertainment is headlined by Pretty Jane & the Magazines, with a free show from 8 to 11 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza located on the corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues.

The East Lansing City Clerk’s Office will also offer voting information on future elections to students.

“When Spartans join us on campus, they're choosing to make MSU and East Lansing their home,” MSU Senior Vice President for Student Life and Engagement Vennie Gore said in a press release. “We are thrilled to partner with the city to make their welcome a warm, engaging and diverse experience.”
