The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has filed felony domestic violence charges on former Michigan State star forward Miles Bridges.
Bridges pled not guilty on Wednesday afternoon according to the LA District Attorney’s Twitter account.
Bridges was arrested on June 19 and held on a $130,00 bond after an incident between Bridges and Mychelle Johnson, who Bridges shares two children with. Johnson later shared photos of the abuse on Instagram, but her account and the post have since been deleted.
According to a release from the LA District Attorney's Office, Bridges is facing one felony count of injuring a child's parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death. The complaint against Bridges, according to the release, alleges the assault happened in front of Bridges' and Johnson's two children.
“Domestic violence creates physical, mental and emotional trauma that has a lasting impact on survivors,” Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón said. “Children who witness family violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable. Mr. Bridges will be held accountable for his actions and our Bureau of Victim Services will support the survivors through this difficult process.”
Bridges' arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow.
