Michigan State and new head coach Adam Nightingale welcomed a new face Monday to the 2022-23 roster, forward Karsen Dorwart.
With freshman eligibility, the Sherwood, Oregon native most recently played with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL where he was teammates with fellow freshman Daniel Russell. Holding a left-handed shot, Dorwart recorded nine goals and 16 assists in 65 games.
"Karsen is a strong centerman who plays a 200' game," Nightingale said in a release. "His game really evolved last season and we look forward to helping him continue his development path.”
Dorwart is the 10th new member of the team, part of a large roster overhaul led by Nightingale and the new staff. Five of the 10 are freshmen with the other five arriving via the transfer portal.
Michigan State opens the 2022-23 season with an exhibition game Oct. 1 in East Lansing before hosting Bowling Green for a home-and-home series Oct. 7-8. Not only will it be the first glimpse of Nightingale and the facelifted roster, but also a look at the newly renovated Munn Ice Arena.
