Another pin has fallen for Michigan State hockey with junior forward Josh Nodler the latest to enter the transfer portal.

A fifth-round NHL Draft selection by the Calgary Flames, Nodler spent three seasons in East Lansing as one of the more productive centers each year as a positive faceoff drawer. He started the 2021-22 season scorching hot as the team's assistant captain, recording 11 points in the first 13 games, but a major slump held Nodler with just one point from Nov. 19 to Feb. 25. Still, it was his best season at MSU, totaling seven goals and eight assists.

Nodler, a Royal Oak native, joins sophomore defenseman Aiden Gallacher as the second Spartan to enter the portal this week. Three graduated seniors, Christian Krygier, Cole Krygier, and Adam Goodsir, are also in the transfer portal with the potential to utilize their fifth year of eligibility.

Michigan State added seven players last season, many of which were impactful, and a similar facelift will have to be made again this summer. The Spartans graduated graduated seven seniors this spring and the departure of Nodler and Gallacher opens up nine roster spots for Michigan State Head Coach Danton Cole to manage.
