Michigan State's Marcus Bingham Jr. declares for the NBA draft
After entering the program with questions swirling about his weight four years ago, Bingham finished his MSU career as the program’s all-time leader in blocked shots with 156. He started the majority of his junior and senior season and averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in his final year.
Bingham frequently butted heads with Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo throughout his career and came close to transferring, but came to be an integral part of the Spartan roster down the stretch this season. He scored a season-high 19 points, 11 rebounds and three an upset of Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament and went out swinging with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the season-ending loss to Duke in the NCAA tournament.
Bingham joins fellow senior Gabe Brown in the NBA draft waters after Brown announced his decision last week. Senior forward Joey Hauser is the only remaining senior yet to decide if he will exercise his extra year of eligibility.
