On Feb. 1, the city of East Lansing got its first snowstorm, with snow accumulations up to 12 inches. This, accompanied by freezing rain, prompted a snow emergency. There could be more snow on the way this week.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that goes into effect at 6 a.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Friday morning. This advisory affects Ingham and Eaton counties.
Snowfall up to four inches is expected this Thursday, with winds up to 35 mph. Ice accumulation is also possible due to freezing rain.
Despite the advisory, the university has not opted to cancel classes.
“At this time, we are still planning to continue with in-person learning,” deputy spokesperson Dan Olsen said in an email.
