This week, Nov. 8-12, is First Generation Week hosted by Associated Students of Michigan State University, or ASMSU. Each day there will be opportunities for students to attend events and receive free merchandise or resources for first-generation college students.

The purchase for the merchandise was funded by ASMSU’s recent passing of Bill 58-30 which transferred $1,352 from ASMSU's general fund to the central staff for First Generation Week.

Monday, Nov. 8

ASMSU hosted a tabling with free first-generation merchandise including t-shirts, tote bags, stickers, etc. at The Rock on Farm Lane.

Tuesday, Nov. 9

There will be a roundtable discussion at the Erickson Kiva, Room 103, at 5 p.m. Along with the discussion with first-generation students and allies, there will be a giveaway for an MSU Dairy Store gift card along with multiple other gift cards.

Wednesday, Nov. 10

From 6 to 8 p.m., ASMSU will be holding a first-generation panel at 10B Bessey Hall. There will also be a career fair and various gift card giveaways as well.

Thursday, Nov. 11

The ASMSU committees — including finance, policy and academic — will be presenting for ASMSU Internal Advocacy Day.

Friday, Nov. 12

ASMSU will be actively posting on socials of first-generation student testimonials.
