On Oct, 14, Michigan State University’s Police Department arrested local men for stealing mopeds. The men are not students at the university, and have no affiliation with MSU.
On Sept. 28, at 2:30 a.m, an MSU student saw the two men stealing mopeds at the 1855 Place apartment complex near Kalamazoo Street and Harrison Road. The student then called 911.
MSUPD officers located the two men and determined they were in possession of a stolen moped. They also had tools to steal the mopeds.
Three mopeds were stolen and later recovered.
“We are grateful that our community appreciates the need to partner together for public safety and report suspicious activity,” MSUPD inspector Chris Rozman said in a press release. “In this case, an observant MSU student was pivotal to us making an arrest and recovering property belonging to other students.”
The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office has charged a 54-year-old Lansing resident with receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle and resisting and obstructing a police officer. A 37-year-old Leslie resident was also charged with receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
