Ninety minutes was not enough: Michigan State men's soccer still could not pull ahead of Wisconsin. The two teams ended their Big Ten opener in a 1-1 draw in Madison on Friday.

"It was a great college soccer game, and a typical Big Ten battle," Michigan State Head Coach Damon Rensing said postgame We got out on a nice goal on the re-start; I thought our ball movement was good. Congratulations to Josh Adam on his first college goal."

"In the Big Ten, on the road, teams are going to put pressure on you," Rensing said. "All in all, I thought our performance was good. We looked like a team. I thought Lance [McGrane]'s goal was sharp. We will take a road point in the Big Ten any day."

Adam, one of the Spartans' freshman defenders, put the green and white on the board first in the 25th minute. Senior midfielder Jack Beck and redshirt junior defender Will Perkins were a dangerous duo with MSU marking nine shots, four on goal, in the span of 110 minutes.

But, Wisconsin's Ignasi Marques managed to find the equalizer before the clock ran out, collecting his first career goal.

Two overtime periods later and MSU has concluded their road trip, now 3-3-1 overall.

The Spartans will return home for a little more non-conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 21 against Duquesne. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
